Frequently Asked Questions

How much does BMW ECU cloning cost?

Pricing varies based on the ECU platform (MSD80, MSD81, MSD85, MEVD17, etc.) and the specific service required. Contact us for a detailed quote based on your vehicle's needs.

How long does ECU cloning take?

Typical turnaround is provided after the module and requested service are reviewed. Additional repair, data recovery, parts sourcing, software requirements, or compatibility issues may extend completion time.

Can you clone my BMW ECU?

Yes, we specialize in BMW ECU cloning across multiple platforms including MSD80, MSD81, MSD85, MEVD17, MEVD17.2, and EDC17. We can also perform ISN synchronization, VIN-related programming where required, and full ECU backups.

What is ISN synchronization?

ISN (Individual Serial Number) synchronization is the process of matching your ECU's ISN with your immobilizer module. This is critical for the vehicle to start properly after ECU modifications or replacements.

Do you offer BMW immobilizer module service?

Yes. We provide BMW immobilizer services across EWS, CAS, FEM, and BDC generations, including support for CAS1, CAS2, CAS3, CAS3+, CAS4, and CAS4+ where module condition and compatibility permit.

What is VIN matching?

VIN-related programming or correction may be required when installing certain compatible replacement modules. The exact procedure depends on the module family, vehicle architecture, replacement history, and applicable legal and technical requirements. Only the modules involved in the approved repair workflow are addressed.

Do you offer nationwide mail-in service?

Yes, we accept mail-in submissions from anywhere in the United States. Do not ship a module until DG Autohaus has reviewed the vehicle information, module identification, service request, and compatibility.

What is your shipping process?

1) Submit a quote request with photos and details. 2) Ship your ECU/module securely to our address. 3) We diagnose and confirm pricing. 4) Upon approval, we perform the repair. 5) We ship it back to you. See our Process page for detailed information.

Can you repair DME modules?

Yes, we specialize in BMW DME (Digital Motor Electronics) repair and cloning. We handle MSD80, MSD81, MSD85, MEVD17, and other platform repairs including data corruption, EEPROM programming, and ISN synchronization.

Do you offer key programming services?

Yes, we provide BMW key programming for EWS and BDC systems. We can reprogram existing keys, support authorized all-keys-lost and replacement-key workflows where the vehicle and module platform are supported, and ensure proper synchronization between your keys and immobilizer module.

What platforms do you support?

We support selected BMW ECU platforms including MSD80, MSD81, MSD85, MEVD17, MEVD17.2, EDC17, CAS1-4, FEM_BODY, BDC_BODY, and related families where service is supported. Visit our Platforms page for a complete list.

Are you a veteran-owned business?

Yes, DG Autohaus is proudly veteran-owned. We bring military precision and attention to detail to BMW and MINI repair work. We're committed to providing top-quality service to our community.

How do I ship my ECU safely?

We recommend using a tracked, insured shipping method (UPS, FedEx, USPS Priority). Wrap your ECU in an anti-static bag and place it in a padded box. Include photos, your contact info, and a description of the issue.

What if something goes wrong during repair?

We take every precaution to ensure safe repairs. If an issue does occur, contact us immediately. We'll work with you to resolve it. We back up data before modifications whenever the module state and procedure allow.
